d
berman gallery is pleased to present Particles
of Order, an exhibit of new work by Sydney Philen
Yeager. The show will be a complement to her
10-year retrospective at Arthouse, Little Mysteries.
Yeager’s new paintings at d berman gallery continue
to explore the bounds of pure abstraction, while
still corresponding to her interest in the natural
world. The highly organic imagery in her works
maintains an energetic tension which echoes
the friction in Nature: untamed chaos vs. harmonious
order.
"A
violent order is disorder; and
A great disorder is an order. These
Two things are one."
-
Wallace Stevens, Connoisseur of Chaos
This
exhibition opens on December 11, 2003 with a
reception from 6 – 8 PM, and will continue through
January 17, 2004. Yeager will give a gallery
talk at Arthouse for her show there at 7:00
PM on January 8, 2004, and so in lieu of a regular
gallery talk at d berman gallery, Yeager will
be in the gallery available for questions and
discussion on Saturday, January 10, 2004, from
1 – 3 PM.
It's
2004 and you can still see the "Best Art
Event of 2003"
Jeanne
Claire van Ryzin's 10 best arts events of 2003
1. 'Sydney Philen Yeager: Little Mysteries,'
Arthouse at the Jones Center; 'Sydney Yeager:
Particles of Order,' D. Berman Gallery. She's
simply one of the best artists Austin can claim.
Sydney Yeager has developed a color-filled abstract
style that reminds us painting can be an absolute
celebration of paint. A mid-career museum retrospective
and a solo gallery show of new work were a celebration
themselves.
