| There is a mesmerizing
quality to Robert Dale Anderson’s detailed
graphite drawings. Mr. Anderson’s work balances on
a fine line between representation and abstraction,
each piece is a compulsively controlled rendering of
complete chaos. Reminiscent of Brueghel or Bosch,
the work depicts fantastic, bizarre worlds in which
ambiguous objects swarm over every inch of their
surreal environments; these miniature universes seem
abandoned yet animated. Mr. Anderson teaches drawing
and print making at the University of Texas, and has
exhibited widely throughout the United States. His
work is in the collections of several museums.

Sydney
Yeager’s new paintings represent a turning
point for this well-known Austin artist. This series
is pure, abstract color patterning unadorned with
the iconography of her previous work. The thickly
applied paint suggests the many layers of content
beneath the final surface. Ms. Yeager, who received
a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship Award
in 1996, teaches painting and drawing at Austin
Community College and the Austin Museum of Art
School at Laguna Gloria. She has exhibited
extensively in Texas.
