Berman Gallery is pleased to present Summer
Light, an exhibition of work by six Texas artists,
curated by Associate Director Anastasia Budziszewski.
The artists in this show use diverse media,
but their works are linked their luminousity.
Hillevi
Baar paints, inks, slices and folds mylar and
herculene, diaphanous plastics, to create fanciful
designs with her pinned wall pieces. The capriciousness
of Faith Gay’s kaleidoscopic installations
comes from the playful use of color and of unusual
materials such as melded plastic. Lance Letscher’s
vibrant collages are meticulously pieced together
with the two dimensional remnants of other people’s
lives. Daphane Park’s maplike paintings
and works on paper provide a glimpse into what
could be either microscopic or macroscopic mysterious
worlds. Kim Squaglia layers paint and resin
to create almost translucent stratums of rich
color in her paintings of floating biomorphic
patterns. Liz Ward’s delicate, intimate
watercolors are constructed of series of fine
lines and light-filled organic and geometric
shapes.
