D BERMAN GALLERY
presented as its inaugural exhibition, "Pattern Language," featuring the work of four painters: Danny Clayton, Marianne Green, Benito Huerta, and Sydney Yeager. As a reaction against 1960s Minimalism and in search of new form and content in painting, the genesis of Pattern painting in the 1970s sought to break the barriers between "high" art and folk art. The language of Clayton, Green, Huerta, and Yeager continues this dialogue as their work moves beyond decorative art and offers a discourse on sensuous color and patterned abstraction. This
show was a contemporary statement on a style of American painting begun
thirty years ago.

Artwork on this site is best enjoyed at 800 X 600, True Color.
