RUSCHA
d berman gallery is pleased to present the Sunliners Series by Ed Ruscha:
"In 1995 Ruscha collaborated with Aldo Crommelynck, a world-renowned master etcher, on Sunliners, a series named after a convertible made by Ford in the 1950s. The project came about during a visit Crommelynck made to Ruscha's studio, where he saw a series of the artist's gouache drawings of drinking glasses floating on lush grounds. He immediately saw potential in the surfaces for translation to nuanced etchings, and invited Ruscha into a collaboration. The prints recall the artist's earlier surreal works, such as the Domestic Tranquility series of the mid-1970s, and are among his richest examples of
intaglio."
