Austin artist
Faith Gay’s exhibit of new works at d berman gallery
will include jubilant sculpture and installation from
three concurrent bodies of work.
Inspired by
arrowheads found in the soil of her new home during
construction, Ms. Gay has created a series of painted
and collaged panels featuring radiating arrowhead
forms. She has also created undulating floor sculptures
out of discarded children’s toys, and wall installations
with tightly cut, colorful balls of fuzzy yarn. Her
multiple bodies of work are unified by their focus
on repetition and pattern, an extravagant use of color,
and a buoyant sense of joy in their making.
Ms. Gay received
her BFA in sculpture at the University of Texas at
Austin. She has exhibited widely throughout the state,
and her work has been shown at the Austin Museum of
Art and the Arlington Museum of Art.
