is happy to present new work by Texas artists Hillevi
Baar and Steve Wiman.
Hillevi Baar’s
new works continue to use Mylar as a canvas, highlighting
her exquisite drawing ability. However, this exhibition
is a departure from her sculptural works of the last
few years and instead focuses on two dimensional pieces.
With a skilled hand she combines figures, text, and
white space to great effect. Ms. Baar was born in
Trinidad and received an M.A. from Stephen F. Austin
University. She has exhibited widely throughout the
country.
Steve Wiman
creates lyrical wall installations using found objects.
His mastery of palette and form transforms both the
ordinary and the rare into three dimensional collages
with depth and whimsy. “Wiman's work is thoughtful,
meditative, and playful – assembling … objects in
evocative ways.” (Madeline Irvine) Mr. Wiman received
an M.F.A. from The University of Texas at Austin.
He is the owner of the popular shop Uncommon Objects
in South Austin.
