JANET KASTNER
Artist Statement

The forms are meant to be sensual, and often swollen, but retaining a certain simplicity and clarity of spirit. I hope the viewer is both visually and viscerally drawn into the work. They are primal shapes with memory attached to them, both familiar and unfamiliar. There are a hybrid of references to the body and other organic forms, but no precise identity. This is meant to discomfort and unsettle as much as seduce.
