My art addresses the unresolved issues that continue to confront humankind.
The ethical compass is not fixed but fluctuates due to society’s understanding
or misinterpretation of world events. Perspectives are varied due to media presentation,
politics, race, economics, religion, culture, location, personal situations,
age, gender, and one’s life as it is lived through time and experience.
Dichotomies persevere.
Currently, my art comments on media’s use of language and the power of
words, our continued colonialism and obsessive consumerist activities, persistent
racial discrimination and economic disparities, the invasion and confrontation
of discordant cultural images, society’s under-educated knowledge of science
and regulations based on fiction, paternalistic protection of the veracity about
war, and reality in opposition to romanticism -- hopefully executed with a sense
of humor. The balance between reason and emotion binds our shared human experience.
