Autumn
at d berman gallery commences with an exhibition of
"The Blue
Paintings"by Denny McCoy .Saturated shades of
blue from cerulean to
ultramarine characterize this most recent body of
work from McCoy,in
which apparently stable wide and narrow vertical bars
of blue begin to
shift, vibrate, disappear and reappear as a result of
the illusionary effects
of light and color as perceived by the viewer.McCoy,who
earned his MFA
at Washington University in St.Louis, has exhibited
in galleries across the
United States, including his home state of Texas. He
resides in Austin.
The gallery will host a performance by Austin classical
guitarist Steve
Kostelnik on Saturday,November 5,at 1 pm in conjunction
with the
gallery talk.McCoy's paintings are best appreciated
when the viewer can
contemplate them.Kostelnik will prepare and perform
a program that will
provide the perfect lyrical dialogue between music
and visual art.
