Joseph
Janson makes energetic oil paintings on wood and metal
panels.
Depicting primarily abstract amorphous shapes, they
are voyages into the landscape of an imagined biology
where colors, textures, and space challenge reality.
Mr. Janson is the head preparator at the Austin Museum
of Art. He received degrees from the San Francisco Art
Institute and Saint John’s University. He has exhibited
in Texas and the Pacific Northwest.

This
will be Lance Letscher's first Austin exhibition since
his successful New York and Houston shows. “The viewer
is drawn close by Letscher's exquisite color and striking
compositions, and is then rewarded by the lively details
of the letters, notes and scraps of paper. The artist's
labor-intensive process of cutting and gluing thousands
of pieces of board and paper results in magnificent
abstract pictures. Letscher's labor becomes a fitting
metaphor for the hard work of the characters whose lives
are chronicled in the very material of these collages.”
Melissa Kuntz, Art in America. Mr. Letscher has upcoming
shows scheduled for Munich, Tokyo, and New York.
