d
berman gallery is pleased to present “Tumbleweeds
& Tire Treads”, an exhibit of new work by Bale
Creek Allen.
Mr.
Allen's work reflects on Texan road culture by bringing
beauty to the banal objects found by the roadside
that are often dismissed as refuse. "Tumbleweeds
& Tire Treads" presents just that: the shapes
of tumbleweeds and tire treads portrayed in photographs
and in sculptures in a variety of media and patinas.
Each of these cast metal sculpture is a work of alchemy
that, in some cases, literally changes dross into
gold. Mr. Allen studied at the School of the Museum
of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition
to exhibiting in numerous galleries across the Southwest
and California, Mr. Allen is a musician and sometime
actor.
This
exhibition opens on 15 September 2005 with a reception
from 6 – 8 PM, and will continue through 22 October
2005. A gallery talk will be held on Saturday, 24
September 2005, at 1:00 PM. |
